Spring Raising Race Conscious Children Workshop Series

2024 Raising Race Conscious Children workshop series on May 12th and May 19th at 8 PM EST

NOTE: Registration for the webinar may close 48-hours prior.

We often avoid talking about race with our young children but research has shown that children notice similarities and differences between people. When we are silent, they are left to draw their own conclusions about what “different” means. Without coaching or support, their conclusions often reflect and reinforce biases. Fortunately – when we are intentional – we can impact the ways that our children see, categorize, and make meaning about race.

In the introductory 1.5 hour-long workshop/webinar, you will:

  • Develop confidence to talk about race with young children
  • Practice various strategies to proactively talk about race with young children.
  • Strengthen children’s ability to become a change-maker.

The follow-up workshop, also 1.5 hours, will focus on specific scenarios (to be submitted by participants). Participants will practice race conscious strategies from the introductory workshop and participants will receive structured and supportive feedback on various questions/scenarios.

The intro and follow-up workshops are always take place from 8-9:30 PM EST on consecutive Sunday evenings (upcoming dates indicated above).

Please Note: Pre-workshop readings and Zoom link will be sent (to the email used to register via Stripe) one week prior to the workshop.

You may participate in the workshop/webinar as an individual, a two-person team, or you can organize an in-person or virtual small group and invite up to 6 people to participate as a team of parents/educators committed to racial justice.
